Learn Momentum Trading Inside the App: Proficiency-Adaptive Education That Grows With You
Most trading apps assume you already know what a VCP is, what R-multiples mean, and why market regime matters. That assumption costs them 80% of their potential users. Here's how we fixed it.

The Problem: Trading Apps Have a Jargon Wall
Open any serious trading platform — Thinkorswim, MarketSmith, TradingView — and you're immediately drowning in acronyms. VCP. CANSLIM. RS Rating. ATR Extension. R-Multiple. Zweig SuperModel. If you don't already speak the language, you bounce.
We built TradeRegimen for experienced momentum and swing traders who needed discipline, not education. The app scans for setups, enforces your trading constitution, coaches your open positions, and journals your results — all assuming you know what those things mean.
Then our beta testers told us the truth: "I am trying to learn your app but feel like I am outside the target demographic."
The gap between "interested in momentum trading" and "fluent in CANSLIM terminology" is where most potential users fall off. We were building for the 20% who already knew the language and ignoring the 80% who wanted to learn it.
The Solution: Education That Lives Where the Concepts Live
Most apps solve this with a separate "Learn" section — a library of articles you read before using the app. The problem is obvious: nobody reads the manual. They open the app, get confused, and leave.
We took a different approach: education lives where the concepts live. When you see "VCP" on a signal card, you can tap an ⓘ icon and learn what it means — right there, in context. The first time you encounter a concept, a contextual learn card appears with a plain-English explanation and why it matters for your trading.
Proficiency-Adaptive: Not One Size Fits All
The key insight is that a beginner and an experienced trader need fundamentally different amounts of explanation. So during onboarding, we added one question: What's your experience level?
- Beginner— Every trading term gets an ⓘ tooltip. Contextual learn cards appear the first time you encounter VCP, R-multiples, market regime, CANSLIM, and stage analysis. A "recommended next step" nudge guides you through the app.
- Intermediate — Common terms are explained; advanced terms (ATR, RS, RVOL) are assumed. Learn cards still appear for your first encounters with app-specific concepts.
- Advanced — Only app-specific terms (Constitution, Trade Traction, Pre-Trade Check) show tooltips. Everything else is clean and dense — the way power users want it.
You can change your proficiency level anytime in Settings. The app instantly adapts — more tooltips appear or disappear across every screen. No restart, no page reload.
What's Included
31-Term Trading Glossary
A searchable, categorized reference with every term used in the app. Each entry includes a plain-English definition, why it matters for your trading, and links to related terms. Tap any ⓘ tooltip and you can jump straight to its glossary entry for the full explanation.
Categories: Risk Management, Chart Patterns, Market Analysis, Trading Psychology, and App-Specific. Filter by category, search by keyword, or browse alphabetically.
5 Structured Learning Paths
For traders who want to learn systematically, not just look up individual terms:
- Understanding Market Regimes (~15 min) — What regimes are, how the Zweig SuperModel calculates them, and how regime should change your position sizing.
- Reading Signal Cards(~20 min) — VCP breakouts, Undercut & Reclaim reversals, and Power Earnings Gaps explained with concrete examples.
- Risk Management 101 (~25 min) — R-multiples, position sizing from risk (not from portfolio percentage), your Constitution, and scale-out plans.
- Using TradeRegimen (~20 min) — The daily workflow from morning regime check to evening journal.
- Advanced Market Analysis (~20 min) — Breadth analysis, sector rotation, and monetary indicators.
Each lesson includes "Try it" prompts that link directly to the relevant app screen — so you practice immediately after reading. Progress is tracked per lesson.
Contextual Learn Cards
The first time you encounter a key concept — regime on the Market tab, VCP on a signal card, R-multiples on your positions — a dismissible learn card appears with a plain-English explanation and a "why it matters" section. Tap "Got it" and it never appears again. Tap "Learn more" to go deeper in the glossary.
Per-Feature Coach Marks
Beyond the initial walkthrough, each major feature shows a one-time tip the first time you use it. Your first visit to the Watchlist tab gets "Build your leader watchlist — filter by Stage 2, high RS, high volume." Your first pre-trade check gets "The app runs 6 checks against your Constitution before every trade." Dismiss them and they're gone; replay them anytime from Settings.
Why This Matters for Your Trading
The education layer isn't a marketing feature. It's a funnel.
Traders who learn momentum methodology throughthe app think in the app's vocabulary. They understand why the regime gate exists. They know what a 2R winner means. When the coaching says "consider trimming 25% at T1," they know exactly what that means and why.
Most trading apps either teach or execute. Very few do both. The education layer means you can start learning on Day 1 and graduate into disciplined execution without switching tools.
The learning paths are free. The glossary is free. The contextual explanations are free. We believe education is the funnel — once you understand what CANSLIM signals mean and why Constitution enforcement matters, the value of Pro becomes self-evident.
Getting Started
If you're already a TradeRegimen user, go to Settings → Educationand set your experience level. The app adapts immediately. If you're new, the onboarding flow now asks your experience level as the very first question — everything downstream adapts.
Start with Learning Paths if you want structured learning, or just start using the app — the contextual learn cards and tooltips will teach you as you go.
FREQUENTLY ASKED
Do I need to know CANSLIM or momentum trading to use TradeRegimen?
No. TradeRegimen's education layer adapts to your experience level. During onboarding, you choose Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. Beginners see contextual explanations for every trading term — VCP, R-multiple, regime, CANSLIM, stage analysis — right where they appear in the app. You learn by using, not by studying.
What are the learning paths in TradeRegimen?
TradeRegimen includes five structured learning paths: Understanding Market Regimes, Reading Signal Cards (VCP, U&R, PEG), Risk Management 101 (R-multiples, position sizing, Constitution), Using TradeRegimen (the daily workflow), and Advanced Market Analysis (breadth, sector rotation, monetary indicators). Each path takes 15-25 minutes and includes 'Try it' prompts that link directly to the relevant app features.
What is proficiency-adaptive education?
Proficiency-adaptive means the app adjusts how much it explains based on your experience level. A beginner sees ⓘ tooltips on every trading term, contextual learn cards the first time they encounter a concept, and step-by-step nudges guiding them through key features. An advanced user sees only app-specific terms explained (like Constitution or Trade Traction) — everything else stays clean and dense.
Is the education content free?
The glossary, learning paths, and contextual education are available to all users. They serve as a natural funnel: as you learn momentum trading concepts through the app, you discover the Pro features (signals, coaching, discipline enforcement) that make the methodology actionable.
How is this different from Investopedia or a trading course?
Investopedia teaches concepts in isolation. Trading courses teach methodology outside the execution environment. TradeRegimen teaches concepts where you use them — the VCP explanation appears next to a VCP signal, the R-multiple explanation appears in your positions tab. The gap between 'I understand this' and 'I can do this' is closed by making education contextual, not separate.
